WHEN IS FIRE ALARM MONITORING REQUIRED?

Every building has unique commercial fire alarm monitoring requirements. You may need alarm monitoring if:

  • Your fire risk assessment recommends it
  • Your premises is a care or nursing home
  • You employ more than five people
  • Your premises is licensed
  • Your building is subject to an alterations notice

Most businesses will implement alarm monitoring for peace of mind. If your fire alarm or intruder alarm goes off an alert will be sent to the nominated person/people of your choice. This may be the business owner or a member of senior management. If your chosen contact does not answer the call then the fire brigade will be notified.

Sometimes your fire risk assessment will recommend that a monitoring service be put in place. This is usually dependent on the level of potential risk identified. For example, most care homes will be advised they must have alarm monitoring.

In some instances fire alarm or intruder alarm monitoring will be stipulated by insurance policies as a requirement to validate cover.

All our services are aimed at mitigating fire risks and damage. Call our friendly team today for more information about alarm monitoring.

ALARM MONITORING PROVIDES PEACE OF MIND

It is estimated that 40 per cent of businesses never recover from large fires. In addition to structural damage, a fire can also result in personal injury, legal suits, loss in equipment, insurance issues, and loss of life. While taking steps to prevent fire damage may seem inconvenient, it is worth your while to avoid the negative repercussions associated with a fire breakout.

The outbreak of a fire is a reality, especially if your organisation carries out industrial operations. If you are responsible for fire safety, you have to conduct routine fire risk assessments, install and maintain fire safety systems, and train your staff to respond to fire alarms.
